Inactivated vaccine against infectious bovine rhinotracheitis, parainfluenza-3 and bovine viral diarrhea virus «BOVISVAC-3»

The vaccine is designed for preventive immunization of cattle against infectious bovine rhinotracheitis, bovine viral diarrhea virus, and parainfluenza-3 in disadvantaged and prosperous farms threatened by these diseases. The vaccine has no therapeutic properties.

The vaccine for cattle consists of:

– Viral material: production strains «M-9» of infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus, «R-4» of parainfluenza-3 virus, «VR» of bovine viral diarrhea virus – 60%;
– Aluminum hydroxide and phosphate buffer (adjuvant) of 10%;
– Glycerin (preservative) – 20%
– Formaldehyde – 0.05%
– Thiomersal.
The vaccine is a pink liquid with a friable white precipitate, which is easily broken at shaking in a uniform suspension.
The titer of production batches of viruses are used for the vaccine production is as follows:
  • for infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus – 7,0 lg ТCD50/cm3,
  • for parainfluenza-3 virus – 5,0 lg ТCD50/cm3,
  • for bovine viral diarrhea virus – 5,5 lg ТCD50/cm3.

Immunobiological properties of the vaccine for cattle

After administration to the organism antigens contained in the vaccine activate multiple mechanisms of the immune system (macrophages, opsonins, interleukins, B-cells, etc.) that are involved in the production of specific antibodies. The vaccine provides an intensive immunity formation against infectious bovine rhinotracheitis, bovine viral diarrhea virus, and parainfluenza-3 at vaccinated animals throughout 14 days after re-vaccination, which persists to 6 months.

How to use and dosing

«BOVISVAC-3» vaccine for cattle is injected intramuscularly with the external surface of the thigh or to the lower third of the neck twice with an interval of 3-4 weeks, cows, heifers, and calves since 20 days of age, and the bulls in a dose of 5 cm3. The second administration of vaccine to cows with calf and heifers shall be made not later than 3-4 weeks before the expected calving. Re-vaccination, that is twice repeated vaccine administration, is carried out after 6 months. Depending on the epizootic situation it is recommended single injection of vaccine to cows throughout 20-30 days after calving.

The vaccine is not used to the sick and weak animals. The vaccine is not used in conjunction with drugs that have immunosuppressive properties.
Collateral action is not observed.
The waiting period for slaughtering after vaccination is missing.
